Talk to Meta AI like a friend! WhatsApp's new voice feature lets you have real-time conversations with AI, making interactions more natural and intuitive.

WhatsApp's New Voice Feature Brings Conversations with Meta AI to Life

Imagine being able to have a hands-free conversation with an AI chatbot on WhatsApp, just like you're talking to a friend. Well, that feature is now being rolled out to some beta testers as part of the WhatsApp beta for Android (version 2.25.21.21). This update brings a more natural, call-like experience to interactions with Meta AI, setting it on par with other popular AI chatbots like ChatGPT and Google Gemini.

So, how does it work? You can initiate a voice chat with Meta AI from the Chats tab by clicking the waveform icon. There's also an option to automatically start voice chats when opening Meta AI, which is a huge time-saver for those who prefer speaking over typing. Plus, you can start voice chats directly from the Calls tab, and the call will start immediately.

One of the best parts about this feature is that you can have a continuous voice call even when you switch to other tabs, just like a real phone call. During the call, you can mute your microphone or end the call at any time. To ensure transparency, Android's built-in privacy indicator (that green dot in the status bar) will appear when your microphone is active.

However, it's worth mentioning that while WhatsApp communications are end-to-end encrypted when chatting with real people, this doesn't apply to interactions with Meta AI. The company does receive prompts and messages shared with Meta AI to generate responses and improve its AI quality.

Overall, this new feature brings a more natural and intuitive way to interact with Meta AI on WhatsApp, making it easier to get things done or just have a conversation.
